Papanui Toc H athletes at Tauranga
Around 35 athletes from Papanui Toc H competed at the 2020 national secondary schools track and field and road race championships, held in Tauranga in early December.
A complete listing of their placings would run to several pages. As it is, more than half of them placed 10th or higher in their events. They included:

Joshua Bull: 1st senior boys pole vault; 9th discus
Phonse Carroll: 9th junior boys 4k road race
Vincent Chen: 6th senior boys pole vault
Lily Cockram: 10th senior girls 200m
Mitchell Corkery: 2nd junior boys pole vault
Georgia-Rose Dawson: 8th senior girls 1500m
Tyler Day: 10th senior boys 300m hurdles
Kaitlin Feather: 6th senior girls 100m hurdles
Sophie Gill: 10th senior girls 400m
Claudia Knight: 5th senior girls high jump
Zack Lappin: 3rd junior boys multi-class para discus; 3rd Javelin; 4th shot put
Neve Moulai: 9th senior girls 1500m
Levi Murdoch: 1st junior boys high jump; 2nd long jump; 3rd triple jump
Rorie Poff: 2nd junior boys multi-class para shot put; 4th javelin; 5th discus
Esther Pratten: 3rd junior girls long and triple jumps; 6th 80m hurdles
Gracie Pratten: 2nd senior girls long jump; 3rd triple jump; 5th 100m hurdles; 6th 100m
Ethan Smolej: 4th senior boys 1500m
Walter Stephenson: 8th junior boys high jump
Torin Ward: 4th junior boys pole vault
Olivia Watt: 3rd junior girls pole vault
Niah Williams: 4th senior girls pole vault
Pai Wynyard: 3rd senior boys 3000m; 10th 1500m
Gracie Pratten (Cashmere High School) and Joshua Bull (Catholic Cathedral Collge) were also named in the NZ team for 2020. Other athletes from Canterbury schools selected for the team included Tapenisa Havea (St Andrew’s College), Ethan Gow (Lincoln High School), Chanel Muir (Catholic Cathedral College) and Charlie Cameron (Christ’s College).
Jess Hendren (Rangiora High School) was named one of the three Junior athletes of the meet after setting a new record of 1.77m in the high jump.
