Our Junior Club Captains

Sarah Hurring

I have a long association with this club having started athletics here when I was 8 years old. I have competed in just about every event and at a range of different levels. I now have two kids who loved their first full year of athletics. I believe this is one of the best sports to be involved in as it teaches you great physical skills and provides the opportunity to make long lasting friendships.

Erana Rattray

My wh?nau have been involved with the Club for six years now, taking part in Athletics through Summer and Harriers over Winter. I grew up with parents who loved running, which rubbed off on me and now my three tamariki also get alot of enjoyment out of running! We have made great friends through Athletics and love the family culture of Papanui Toc H.

Our Junior Club Captains

Club Nights take place on Tuesdays 5.10 to 7pm at the club’s grounds at Papanui High.  Each program will include a running, jumping and throwing event with combination of coaching and competition.  For children under 7 years old the club runs a “Get Set Go” programme, a fun way for younger athletes to learn basic skills and have a go at athletics.

Junior Coaching - Thursday evenings

Junior Coaching takes place on Thursdays from 5.30 to 7pm at Papanui High. Coaching Sessions are run by our top-level group of coaches and are designed to provide athletes from 10 to 15 years the chance to develop and enhance event-specific skills, strength and flexibility. We also run intermitant specialist workshops for members of the junior coaching squad during the season. There is an additional charge of $62.50 for the season per athlete wishing to attend coaching which can be purchased on the member registration page.

Saturday Interclub

Interclub competitions are run on Saturdays from 9 to 12.30 where junior athletes have the opportunity to test their skills and compete at Nga Puna Wai all weather athletics stadium. Registered athletes may comptete in 4 events + a relay each week and the club encourages all junior athletes to get involved in Interclub competitions. Saturdays are always a fun and social morning for the children and also provide invaluable competition experience and a further training opportunity.
